The Mangrove Training Institute is designed on the vocational training model which focuses on applications of practical/technical skills learned, and minimal focus on traditional academic skills. A large part of the instruction is hands-on training. The emphasis is on providing a link between education and the industry. The target market is geared primarily to workforce development, displaced workers, CTE students (public private partnerships), and individuals who are more inclined toward non-traditional learning.

Based on the industry and flexibility, courses will be offered both in the morning and evening to accommodate students who need to maintain their employment. Change in the student’s employment will afford them the opportunity to change their class schedules.

Courses will be offered Monday through Thursday with four hours of contact time each day per class session.

Baking & Pastry 1, Culinary 1 and Bartending are three full length courses (6 months to 12 months) that will lead to a certification in their respective areas as well as individual certificates from the National Restaurant Association (NRA), the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), and the American Culinary Federation (ACF).

The two-month (8wks) and one-month (4wks) classes will offer certificates in their respective disciplines (Bakery and Pastry, Culinary, Hotel Operations, Restaurant Operations, Customer Service, Event Planning, Meetings & Events, Catering).
